Tignes has earned a reputation as one of the best ski resorts in the world. Sitting at the second highest altitude in Europe, it offers fantastic snow conditions throughout the season and is known as one of the most reliable spots for early snow in the Alps.
A purpose-built resort, Tignes has a wide variety of accommodation to suit all budgets—from ski chalets and hotels to self-catered apartments. The scenery is equally impressive, with a dramatic frozen lake in the centre of the resort and breathtaking views of the Grand Motte glacier.
As part of the vast Espace Killy ski area—shared with neighbouring Val d’Isère—Tignes gives you access to 300km of marked pistes, plus some brilliant off-piste terrain and snow parks for freestyle fun.
When the ski day ends, the fun definitely doesn’t. Tignes has a lively après-ski scene, with loads of bars and restaurants to enjoy, making it just as great off the slopes as it is on them.
Tignes is a dream for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The resort is known for its long, wide pistes and varied terrain, with some of the best lift-served off-piste skiing in the world.
If you're just starting out—or prefer to take it easy—there are free nursery slopes right in resort, plus a whole bowl of gentle terrain between Tignes and Val d’Isère that's perfect for beginner and intermediate skiers.
And for freestyle fans, the Espace Killy is home to two snow parks, ideal for practicing tricks, catching some air, or just having a blast.
Tignes is packed with fantastic restaurants spread across the resort, offering something for every taste. You’ll find everything from traditional Savoyarde cuisine to pizzas, steakhouses, and even Asian specialities—it’s a real food lover’s dream.
If après is more your thing, Tignes doesn’t disappoint! Whether you’re looking for mountain vibes or in-town fun, there’s always something going on.
On the hill après:
Head over to La Folie Douce, located between Val d’Isère and Tignes—just one lift home afterwards!
Cocorico’s in Val Claret is another favourite: a lively outdoor venue with DJs and live music every afternoon.
Le Bolin is a mountain party spot that keeps the energy going even later—and the best bit? You can ski straight home without needing a lift.
In resort après:
Back in town, there are loads of great après bars to choose from.
The Loop Bar is always buzzing, with live music most days.
The Marmot Arms is a more relaxed pub vibe, also with regular live performers.
Moose Bar is fun and friendly, with great vibes and no music—perfect if you want a chilled one without the noise.
Tignes also has two nightclubs for those who want to keep going into the early hours:
Avant Garde and
Strike – the newest addition, styled like a London superclub.
And if you're into bass music, don’t miss the monthly Bass Station nights—usually drum & bass, house, garage, or bass-heavy sets. Big names like Benny Page, The Ragga Twins, Jack Beats, Flava D, and Danny Byrd have all played here.
Off the slopes, there’s no shortage of things to do. Some activities are even included with your lift pass, like entry to the Lagon swimming complex—which has a kids’ pool with slides, plus an adults-only wellness area for some proper relaxation.
For sports and indoor fun, the Tignespace sports centre has squash courts, tennis, trampolining, badminton, an indoor skating rink, and even a top-notch climbing wall.
Looking for something a bit different? You can also try husky sledding, paragliding, moon-biking, ice diving under the frozen lake, and loads more.
